Important Registration Information
REGISTRATION DATES:
- Registration Opens: Memorial Day Weekend
- Registration Closes: The First Day of Practice
SWIM TEAM TRYOUTS: If your child can swim one lap, completely unassisted, across the pool, they are qualified for the swim team. The Candlewood Sundevils Swim Team is not a swim lesson program, so please know your child's capabilities prior to attending. Should your child need swim lessons, the contact information can be found on The Candlewood Swim and Racquet Club Website or at the front desk.
VOLUNTEERING: Please read carefully to ensure you are clear on the expectations of your volunteer duties.
- Every registered family must volunteer to work at least two jobs at any swim meets during the season. If you do not work 2 jobs, you will be assigned to work if there are open positions at any of the meets. It will be your responsibility to find a replacement if you cannot work the shift.
- You must check-in on time with the Parent Rep Coordinator at the volunteer table prior to the start of each meet, to receive credit.
- It is your responsibility to find a replacement/back-up to fulfill your volunteer commitment, if unable to attend.

FAQs
1. Are there tryouts for the swim team?
- All swimmers must be able to swim one length of the pool unassisted (no floaties and no grabbing the wall or lane lines). If they can do this, they are able to participate. If they cannot do this, we will refer them to swim lessons and they are more than welcome to complete the swim test again next year.
2. What will my swimmer need to bring to practice?
- Your swimmer will need: a swim suit, functional goggles, a water, and a towel.
- Girls: Ensure that the bathing suit is tight enough to stay on during practice. We recommend a one piece, but two pieces are fine as long as they don't fall down.
- Boys: Ensure that the bathing suit is tight enough to stay on during practice. We recommend jammers, but board shorts are fine as long as they have functional drawstrings.
- Scuba masks will not be permitted as goggles.
- Caps are not required, but are recommended for competitive swimming.
- Please bring lots of water, and a towel to dry off with.
3. What will be discussed with swim families at the first practice?
- The schedule for the season will be reviewed.
- Swimmer's abilities will be assessed. If your swimmer cannot complete one lap unassisted, your money will be refunded and you will be provided with information about swim lessons for the summer.
- Volunteer assignments will be reviewed.
4. Do I need to purchase a team swim suit?
- If your swimmer has a team suit that still fits from previous seasons, they are permitted to wear that this season!
- If your swimmer does not have a competitive swim Candlewood Swim suit, you will need to purchase one in our online store. Try on suits will be available at practice for sizes.
5. How much does it cost to participate?
- All prices can be found listed on the Candlewood Swim and Racquet Club website. Individual questions about membership should be directed to the club.
6. We're going on vacation during the season and will be missing practices and meets, what should we do?
- Its okay if swimmers or families are not able to attend every practice or every meet. However, our season is only one month long and your swimmer may not progress as much as a swimmer who is consistent in their practice.
- We cannot offer discounts for the time missed, and your swimmer may not progress enough to be able to compete in our Championships meet. Please let the coaches know ASAP so we can help your swimmer as much as possible!
